🚀 Getting started with SuiviBio

1️⃣ Edit my profile

Your profile lets you personalize the app and better understand your results based on your age and sex.

The first time you open the SuiviBio app, you will be asked to enter some essential information such as your last name, first name(s), date of birth and sex. This information is used to tailor the interpretation of your lab results.

You can change this information at any time by following the steps below:

Steps:
  1. Open the SuiviBio app
  2. Go to “Settings” (icon at the bottom right)
  3. Tap “Patient information”
  4. Edit your information: last name and first name(s) (required), date of birth, sex and height (decimals accepted)
  5. Tap “Save”
What is the profile used for?

Your initials and age are calculated automatically. The profile is used to calculate your BMI and to adapt the reference ranges: the sex you enter selects the male- or female-specific ranges (PSA, β-hCG, LDL/HDL and TG/HDL ratios). The date of birth cannot be in the future.

2️⃣ Add a result

You can add your lab results in two ways: manually, or by scanning your document with AI-powered automatic recognition.

Steps:
  1. Go to the main screen and tap the “+” button at the bottom
  2. Choose “Scan results” or enter the results manually
  3. If entering manually: select the parameters and enter the values
  4. Enter the date of the result
  5. 🏥 Lab tests: enter the laboratory name (it will be converted to CAPITALS)
  6. ✅ Self-entered measurements (blood pressure, weight, etc.): the laboratory “SUIVIBIO” is added automatically
  7. Check the values on the review screen, then save
Canadian lab reports (SI units)

Some lab reports write HbA1c as “0.059” and hematocrit as “0.415 L/L”. SuiviBio records them as percentages (5.9%; 41.5%), whether scanned or entered manually. The conversion is shown below the field: “0.415 read as 41.5%”.

Both comma and period decimal separators, as well as spaces as thousands separators (“245 000”), are accepted. An ambiguous value such as “0 059” is not saved rather than risk misreading it.

3️⃣ Scan with AI

This guide describes the whole process for scanning or importing lab and medical test documents into SuiviBio, using AI-assisted optical character recognition (OCR).

1️⃣ Choose the entry method

In the app, you can digitize your lab documents in two complementary ways:

  • Scan directly with the camera: ideal if you have your paper results sheet in front of you.
  • Import a digital file (PDF or image): ideal if you downloaded your results from your laboratory's patient portal or received a PDF/image file by email.
2️⃣ Scan with the camera (OCR & AI)

The smart scanner uses your smartphone's camera and AI to analyze your paper results in seconds:

Opening the scanner:
  • From the main screen or the parameter selection, tap “Scan results” (or “AI scan”).
  • Allow camera access the first time you use it.
Framing and multi-page capture:
  • Lay your document flat in a well-lit place, free of glare.
  • Adjust the on-screen selection frame to target the results tables.
  • Take the photo with the capture button.
  • If your report has several pages, you can capture the following pages one after another. Thumbnails of the scanned pages appear at the bottom of the screen.
Finishing the capture:
  • Tap “Done” to merge the pages and start processing.
3️⃣ Import a document (PDF or image from your gallery)

This feature lets you extract data directly from your digital documents:

Opening the import:
  • Select the “Import file” option (or “Import PDF / Image”).
Selecting your document:
  • PDF file: choose your lab report in PDF format. You can move between the document's pages and adjust the selection area on each page.
  • Image (gallery): select one or more photos of your results stored on your phone.
Framing the area of interest:
  • Resize the selection rectangle to include the parameters, values, units and test dates.
  • Tap “Capture” to add the page/selection, then “Confirm import”.
4️⃣ Automatic analysis by artificial intelligence

As soon as you confirm your captures or imports:

  • Optical character recognition (OCR): the app extracts the raw text, numbers, dates and units of measurement in the document.
  • Smart detection (AI):
    • Automatic identification of test names (e.g. total cholesterol, triglycerides, ferritin, CBC, blood glucose, TSH...).
    • Accurate extraction of measured values and units.
    • Detection of the sample collection / test date.
    • Detection of the clinical laboratory's name.
5️⃣ Reviewing and confirming the results

To ensure your medical data is reliable, a review screen is shown before anything is saved:

Checking the matches:
  • Recognized parameters are automatically matched to the parameters in your SuiviBio profile.
  • You can check every detected value, date and unit.
Manual adjustments if needed:
  • Edit or correct a misread value if the original document was blurry.
  • Add a missing parameter or remove an unwanted one.
  • Enter or confirm the laboratory name and add a comment or context (e.g. fasting, current treatment).
Final save:
  • Tap “Save” (or “Validate”). The data is immediately added to your history, trend charts and dashboards.
Did you know?

If your laboratories use different units, SuiviBio automatically converts them to your reference unit so your trend charts stay consistent.

Tip

For better recognition, make sure the document is well lit, lying flat and that the values are legible.

4️⃣ Reading the dashboard

As soon as you open the app, the dashboard summarizes the key points of your lab results.

Latest test results

Date (“3 weeks ago”…) and number of parameters within / outside the reference range.

Your tracking

How long you have been tracking (“12 reports over 2 years and 3 months”), laboratories and tracked parameters.

To monitor

Latest value of each out-of-range parameter, with its reference range and previous value. Consistency checks also flag values to double-check (e.g. HDL cholesterol higher than total cholesterol).

Vital signs & upcoming tests

Blood pressure (WHO classification), pulse, temperature, SpO₂, fingerstick blood glucose, weight · BMI. The “Upcoming tests” card shows the 3 nearest due dates.

🔬 Understanding my results

What it means

A lab parameter (cholesterol, blood glucose, hemoglobin) measures how your body is functioning.

Normal value

These are ranges set by laboratories for most of the population. You can adjust the limits and units of each test to match your lab report, without losing any of your history.

How do I read a chart?

Charts show how your results change over time.

  • Blue dots: your results.
  • Red/green line: upper and lower limits.
  • Trend: whether it is rising, falling or stable.

Calculated lipid panel values

From total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides, SuiviBio automatically calculates six values. Nothing more to enter.

ValueCalculationRange shown
Non-HDL cholesterolTC − HDLup to 1.50 g/L
Remnant cholesterolTC − HDL − LDLup to 0.35 g/L
VLDL cholesterolTG ÷ 5up to 0.30 g/L
TC / HDL ratio (Castelli index)TC ÷ HDLup to 5
LDL / HDL ratioLDL ÷ HDLup to 3.5 (3.0 for women)
TG / HDL ratioTG ÷ HDLup to 3.75 (3.0 for women)
  • All four values from the same panel are required. If one is missing (often an LDL that was not read during the scan), complete the report: the calculation runs right away.
  • LDL is never calculated: it is always the value reported by the laboratory.
  • The laboratory's value takes precedence if the lab report already prints one of these values.
  • VLDL is not calculated when triglycerides exceed 3.4 g/L (the estimate is unreliable).
  • Editing or deleting a result updates the calculated values; mmol/L and mg/dL units are converted before calculation.
  • On screen: “Calculated by SuiviBio” on the report page, “calculated” in the history, and “(calculated)” everywhere else.
Good to know

These values are never measured on their own, so they cannot have a reminder. Set a reminder for total cholesterol, HDL, LDL or triglycerides instead. The ranges are for guidance only (sources on each parameter page) and do not replace your doctor's advice.

📈 Tracking and charts

Results summary table

See how your lab results have changed at a glance with a summary table organized by report and by date.

How to open it
  1. Open the app's side menu (icon at the top left, or swipe from the edge of the screen).
  2. Select “Summary table” from the menu options.
Organized by report

Each column is a sample collection date, so you can easily compare several reports side by side.

Read by parameter

Each row is a lab parameter, with its successive values and their units.

Tip

This table is ideal for preparing for a medical appointment: you can instantly see which parameters changed between two reports.

📈 Line chart mode

The classic mode for closely following how your lab parameters change over the long term.

Color-coded indicators

A gradient from green to dark red based on clinical severity thresholds, for instant reading.

Interactivity

Horizontal scrolling and pinch-to-zoom for a detailed view of your history.

Important note

For trends, Heatmap mode is used for vital signs, while line charts are used for other lab parameters.

📲 Alerts and notifications

SuiviBio helps you keep track of your health by automatically alerting you when your results need particular attention.

Opening notifications

SuiviBio automatically alerts you if results fall outside the reference ranges. New alerts are indicated by a red dot on the notification icon.

Steps to open them:
  1. Go to the app's main screen.
  2. Find the bell icon 🔔 at the top right.
  3. If there is a red dot, you have new unread notifications.
  4. Tap the icon to open the notification center.
Viewing a notification's details

Each notification tells you which parameter is involved and why you were alerted, to help you better understand your results.

Steps to view the details:
  1. Open the notification center.
  2. Tap a notification in the list.
  3. A window opens with the alert details, the measured value and the interpretation.
  4. From this screen, you can go straight to the parameter's chart to see its full history.
Deleting notifications

You can tidy up your notification center by deleting past alerts, either one by one to keep track of your follow-ups, or all at once.

How to do it:
  • To delete a single notification: swipe the notification left or right.
  • To delete everything: tap the trash icon 🗑️ (or the “Clear all” button) at the top right of the notifications screen.
  • Confirm the deletion if a confirmation message appears.
When everything is fine, SuiviBio lets you stay at ease! ✅

My reports and the report page

Find every report in “My reports”: results, laboratory, original document, PDF or text export — in just a few taps.

How to open it:
  1. Open the side menu (☰) → “My reports”.
  2. Reports are listed by section. Your personal measurements (blood pressure, weight, pulse…) are grouped on a “SUIVIBIO” row at the end of the list, by type and then by date.
  3. Tap a report to open its page: date, laboratory, results with reference ranges and status.
From the report page, you can:
  • Export a PDF or text report, choosing which parameters to include (share, print or send the text summary).
  • Export a SuiviBio file (.sbp) limited to this report.
  • View or import the original document.
  • Delete this report. For SUIVIBIO measurements, the trash icon deletes the measurements of a specific type and date.

Original document of your reports

Each report can keep its source document: the scanned photo or the laboratory's PDF.

  • The document scanned or imported when adding a report is attached automatically. You can also add it later from the report page.
  • Full-screen viewer: page scrolling, pinch-to-zoom, sharing, deletion.
  • Formats: images (JPEG) and PDFs up to 10 pages and 10 MB.
Privacy

Documents stay on your phone, without metadata (no GPS location, no device information). They can be included in a backup, but never in a shared .sbp logbook.

⏰ My follow-ups & reminders

What is “My follow-ups” for?

Choose a follow-up (diabetes, high blood pressure…) and SuiviBio suggests the tests to do, with a recommended frequency for guidance. You confirm or adjust them, and the app reminds you when the day comes.

Side menu (☰) → “My follow-ups”, with 3 tabs:
  • Reminders: upcoming tests sorted by due date, with overdue / due soon / active follow-up counters.
  • Follow-ups: active follow-ups, the follow-up catalog, and creating a custom follow-up.
  • Settings: notifications, time, follow-up reminder.
Important

You choose your follow-ups. SuiviBio does not make any diagnosis and does not infer any follow-up from your results. Frequencies are for guidance only (sources: MSD Manual and HAS – French National Authority for Health, viewable in the app) and should be adjusted with your doctor.

Choosing a follow-up and its tests

  1. Follow-ups tab → choose a follow-up under “Add a follow-up”.
  2. Suggested tests screen: for each parameter, keep it or turn it off and change the frequency (1, 3, 6, 12 months, or “Other…” in days, weeks or months).
  3. Tap “Turn on N reminders”.
  4. Later: Manage → edit the tests, Stop this follow-up or Delete this follow-up.
Follow-upSuggested tests (recommended frequency)Access
DiabetesHbA1c (3 months) · creatinine, eGFR (12 months) · total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides (12 months)Free
High blood pressure (hypertension)Blood pressure (3 months) · creatinine, eGFR, potassium (12 months) · lipids (12 months)Free
HIVViral load (6 months) · creatinine, eGFR, potassium (12 months)Premium

Chronic kidney diseaseCreatinine, eGFR, potassium (3 months) · calcium, phosphate (6 months) · hemoglobin, white blood cells, platelets (6 months)Premium
Smart rules

A parameter required by two follow-ups has only one reminder, using the shorter interval. When you stop a follow-up, reminders used by another follow-up or created by you are kept.

Understanding due dates

Due date = latest measurement of the parameter + chosen frequency. It updates automatically with each new report that includes this parameter.

🔴
Overdue

The test date has passed

🟠
Due soon

Within the next 14 days

🟢
Up to date

Next test is later

⚪
No measurement

Test due as soon as it is created

  • Postpone by 7 or 30 days (the postponement is canceled as soon as a new measurement comes in).
  • Add test results directly from the reminder.
  • A red badge on “My follow-ups” in the side menu shows the number of overdue tests.

Creating a reminder for a parameter

For most parameters, without turning on a full follow-up.

  1. Open a parameter's details page (its history) → “Remind me about this test”, or in My follow-ups → “Add a manual reminder”.
  2. Choose the frequency: a live preview shows the date of the next test.
  3. Optional: enter the goal set with your doctor.

The details page and the Trend page then show “Next test on …” (tapping it opens the reminder). Exceptions: blood group, red cell phenotype, identified antibodies and calculated lipid panel values cannot have reminders.

Measurement reminders (blood pressure, weight…)

For measurements you take yourself, set a reminder at fixed times, once or several times a day: blood pressure, heart rate and respiratory rate, temperature, SpO₂, fingerstick blood glucose, weight and waist circumference.

Steps:
  1. Page of a parameter measured at home → “Remind me to measure” (or, in My follow-ups, “Add a measurement reminder”).
  2. Choose the times (1 to 6 per day), the days (M T W T F S S) and the duration (no end, 7 days, 30 days or until a date).
  3. Check the preview (“Next reminder: Sun, Oct 25 at 17:13”) then tap “Create reminder”.
  4. The button becomes “Measurement reminder: 08:00 · 20:00” and opens the reminder (edit, pause, delete).
  • If a measurement was already entered within the 2 hours before the scheduled time, the reminder is not sent.
  • Several measurements at the same time = a single notification.
  • Tapping the notification opens data entry directly for today's date.
  • Blood pressure is a single reminder: systolic and diastolic count together.

Setting up reminder notifications

  • One notification on the due date, at the time chosen in the Settings tab (9:00 by default).
  • A single follow-up reminder 14 days later if nothing has been measured (can be turned off).
  • Several tests on the same day = a single notification.
  • Lock screen: only the parameter name is shown — never your values or the name of your follow-up.
  • If notifications are turned off in your phone settings, a banner tells you so, with an “Open Settings” button.

The “Test reminders” setting also turns off measurement reminders.

Create a custom follow-up Premium

  1. Name your follow-up (e.g. “Thyroid follow-up”).
  2. Add whole modules (kidney function, lipids, CBC…) or individual parameters.
  3. Choose a frequency for each parameter, review, and turn it on.
  4. Change its contents at any time.

My follow-ups in the free version

  • 1 follow-up at a time: diabetes or high blood pressure.
  • 2 manual reminders, including measurement reminders.
  • If Premium ends, nothing is deleted: notifications continue for the first free follow-up and the first 2 reminders; the others remain visible with a padlock.

“Upcoming tests” widget

Your upcoming and overdue tests right on your phone's home screen.

Small

Number of tests + the next one (e.g. “Creatinine — In 4 d”).

Medium

List of upcoming tests with due dates and 🔴 / 🟠 / 🟢 counters. The next measurement reminder is also shown (“20:00 · Blood pressure”).

  • Install: long-press the home screen → Widgets → SuiviBio → “Upcoming tests”.
  • Discreet mode: Settings → “Discreet mode for widgets” hides test names.
  • Updates automatically, with no extra battery drain.

⚙️ Sharing, backup & settings

Managing and exporting my logbook (.sbp) Premium

Export your results to an encrypted file (.sbp), protected by a 5-character code, to show them to your doctor or a loved one. They open it in SuiviBio, on iOS or Android, without anything being saved on their device.

Steps:
  1. Side menu (☰) → “Manage my logbook”.
  2. “Export a SuiviBio file (.sbp)”.
  3. Choose the scope: this report, a date range (from … to …) or the whole logbook, and check the displayed name.
  4. The file is encrypted, then the code is displayed (e.g. K7M2Q).
  5. “Copy code” then “Share file”.
Send the code separately

Send the file by message or email, and the code another way (text message, phone call). Without it, the file cannot be read. SuiviBio does not keep it: if it is lost, export the logbook again to get a new code.

The file contains the results (values, units, ranges), the reports, the laboratories and the displayed name, but not the report photos or PDFs.

Importing a logbook (viewing session)

Receive a .sbp file, enter the code and browse a loved one's or a patient's reports and charts in an isolated session. Free, no Premium needed.

  1. Side menu (☰) → “Manage my logbook” → “Import a logbook”, or simply open the file from your messaging app or file manager.
  2. Enter the 5-character code (mix-ups between O/0 and I/1/L are corrected automatically).
  3. Browse the reports, the summary table and the trend charts, in read-only mode.
  4. “Close session”: the data is erased from the device.
  • A permanent banner reads “Viewing session — [name]'s data, not saved”.
  • Your own data stays untouched. One session at a time.

Back up and restore Premium

A backup lets you recover all your data on a new phone, even from iPhone to Android (shared iOS / Android format).

  • Export: Settings → “Export a backup”. SuiviBio shows the number and size of the original documents and offers “Export with documents” or “Export without documents” (smaller file).
  • Import: Settings → “Import backup”, or open the file directly.
  • What is restored: test results, vital signs, comments, custom parameters, profile, follow-ups and reminders (notifications rescheduled) and original documents. A summary is shown when the restore finishes.
  • Each document is verified (SHA-256 hash). Older backups can still be read.
.sbp logbook or backup?

The .sbp logbook is for showing your results (encrypted, temporary viewing). The backup is for recovering your data. SuiviBio automatically recognizes the type of file you open.

Exporting my reports as PDF or text

Send a PDF or text report to your doctor via WhatsApp or email. From a report's page (Menu ☰ → My reports), choose the parameters to include, then share, print or send the text summary. PDF export is a Premium feature.
